"The integration of Dayton Heart Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital represents a significant investment by Good Samaritan in our future and that of the community we serve. In the few short weeks since we announced our intent to acquire Dayton Heart Hospital, we have accomplished a great deal to both welcome our new Dayton Heart employees and ensure that we continue to deliver excellent care to our patients.
"Over the next year, patients will still be able to receive excellent cardiac care both from Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital. Looking ahead, experts from these hospitals will be working to bring these two heart care programs together, built upon the patient-focused care model that has been be so successful at Dayton Heart. In the fall of 2009, the programs will be integrated and located at the new heart and vascular facility currently under construction at the Good Samaritan Hospital campus (2222 Philadelphia Drive in Dayton).
"It is our commitment that throughout this process, there will only be winners. The patients win because they will benefit from excellent care that will combine the talents and technology of these two leading programs. The employees win because they will continue to do what they do best – provide outstanding care to their patients. And the residents of Dayton win because we live in a community where we can receive care from nationally ranked health care programs right here at home."

Other ways Good Samaritan Hospital is investing in Dayton:
The Phoenix Project:
phoenixprojectdayton.org
Over the past five years, we have invested $7 million in The Phoenix Project, a cooperative effort with residents, city leaders and local businesses to bring a sense of revitalization, safety and strength to our neighborhood. The project has improved property values, enhanced its visual image, increased interest in homeownership and enhanced youth activities. In addition the Dayton school district will build a new K-8 school in the revitalized neighborhood.
High school partnership agreements:
In 2007, Good Samaritan Hospital, along with its partner hospitals in the Premier Health Partners, implemented a unique community connection strategy and began working with area high schools to provide both certified athletic training services and secure long-term marketing agreements for naming rights to school fields or stadiums. Good Samaritan now has agreements with six area schools – Trotwood-Madison, Tri-County North, Northmont, Wayne (Huber Heights), Brookville and Vandalia Butler. These sponsorships are intended to create safer playing conditions for athletes, support sports programming to encourage healthy lifestyles, provide health and wellness education, and enable schools to focus funds on academics.
