Q. As a patient currently at Dayton Heart Hospital, what changes in care am I going to see?
A. As a patient who is currently receiving care at Dayton Heart Hospital, we want to assure you that you should not see any changes in the outstanding care that you will receive during your stay. Patients will continue to benefit from the top-ranked care that has been delivered by this hospital for nearly ten years.
Q. What health insurance providers will be accepted starting on May 18? Will there be any changes?

Q. How will the current staff at Dayton Heart Hospital be affected?
A. Dayton Heart Hospital’s nearly 350 employees will become Good Samaritan employees and have been offered to continue in their current jobs.
Q. Will this affect the heart facility currently under construction at Good Samaritan?
A. Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital will remain in its current location (707 S. Edwin C. Moses Boulevard, Dayton) until it becomes part of the $31 million heart and vascular facility currently under construction on the Good Samaritan campus (2222 Philadelphia Drive, Dayton). The completion of construction at Good Samaritan and the move of Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital into the new facility will take place in Fall 2009.
Q. What will happen between now and Fall 2009?
A. Good Samaritan Hospital already had started work last year on a dedicated heart and vascular facility at its main campus (2222 Philadelphia Drive in Dayton). The original project will be expanded to add three cardiac catheterization labs and 39 private patient rooms – for a total of seven catheterization labs and 117 private patient rooms – to accommodate Dayton Heart Hospital’s needs. The first phase of the heart and vascular facility at Good Samaritan Hospital will open in July 2008, which will include the diagnostic areas on the first floor. The second phase of the project, which features additional private patient rooms, will open in Fall 2008. The final phase, with the remaining private patient rooms, will open in Fall 2009 following the integration of Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital staff and processes at the new facility. The ongoing development of the heart and vascular program at Good Samaritan Hospital over the next year will be a collaborative effort involving the medical staff and care givers both at Good Sam and Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital.

A. Mary Garman, formerly Dayton Heart Hospital’s chief operating officer and vice president of clinical services, is now a vice president of hospital operations of Good Samaritan Hospital and chief operating officer of Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital. In addition to managing operations of Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital, she will oversee the integration and future operations of the combined program that will be located at the main campus of Good Samaritan Hospital.
