Your Health & Safety

Medications

While you are in Dayton Heart Hospital, the nursing staff will only give you medicine ordered by your doctor. If you brought any medicines with you, including vitamins or herbal products, please send them home. We request your complete cooperation in this, since improper medication can seriously affect your treatment plan. Your nurse will ask for a list of all medicines you are currently taking.

Money & Valuables

Please do not keep anything valuable in your bedside cabinet, closet or shelves. We encourage you to leave valuables at home, or have family members take them home. Only bring needed items, such as sleeping clothes and toiletries. If you would like, you may want to keep a few dollars for purchasing small items. You also may keep your checkbook and credit cards in our vault where they will be secure, but available. But please note that the hospital is not responsible for the loss of money, jewelry or other valuable personal belongings. To place items in our vault, please see ask your caregiver when you are admitted.

Electronic Devices

Because the hospital uses sensitive electrical equipment, personal electrical devices are not permitted in patient rooms. This includes your personal television, radio, electric blanket, fan, curling iron, hair dryer, electric razor or computer.

Cellular Phones

Cellular phones are prohibited at Dayton Heart Hospital. Please turn these devices off prior to entering the hospital building or leave them in your locked vehicle. You will see our staff using mobile phones. These phones are designed to not interfere with our equipment.

Fire Safety

If you hear a fire alarm tone, stay where you are until you are given directions. If any action is needed, the staff will advise you on what to do. Do not be disturbed; we often hold fire drills to ensure our staff knows what to do in an emergency.

Smoke-Free Environment

Dayton Heart Hospital is a non-smoking facility. If you smoke, please talk with your doctor and nurse about ways to make your stay here more comfortable. For your safety and the safety of other patients and staff, there is no smoking anywhere in the hospital. A smoking area is provided in the rear of the hospital on the south west side.
