Calcium scoring, or HeartSaver CTTM as we have named it, is the most effective non-invasive screening tool available for detecting and measuring calcium build-up in, or around the heart's arteries. At Dayton Heart Hospital we use the most advanced CT technology available: A Multidector CT (MDCT). The HeartSaver CT works by obtaining multiple images from different angles in a very short period of time. The actual procedure takes less than seven minutes to complete, and does not require needles or injections.

When you have a HeartSaver CTTM this is what happens...
EKG leads will be attached to your chest, and you will be asked to lie on a table that moves slowly through the scanner. Our technologist will instruct you to hold your breath. During those few moments pictures of your heart will be taken. A computer program will be used to measure the volume and density of the calcium deposits in the heart's arteries. That measurement is called the calcium score. A qualified physician specially trained in HeartSaver CT technology will analyze your HeartSaver CT images and your computerized report. Test results will be sent to you within 7-10 business days. Based upon the results of your scan, recommended clinical actions and/or a physician recommended consultation may accompany your report.

Dayton Heart Hospital HeartSaver CTTM Scans are available Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. We also have weekend appointments for your convenience. If you would like to schedule a HeartSaver CT Scan, please call (937) 221-8900, and our staff will be happy to help you.
